Will Observe 70th Anniversary at Beaches of Normandy

Washington, June 6, 2014 | Greg Brooks ((202) 225-3164)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On the 70th Anniversary of the Allied D-Day Invasion, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-2) joins the official congressional delegation traveling to Normandy, France, to commemorate the WWII battle.  Wenstrup will participate in ceremonies on Omaha and Sword beaches and at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.

“I’m honored to part of the delegation on this solemn anniversary,” Wenstrup said of the trip. “70 years ago, our greatest generation stormed the beaches and cliffs of Normandy to beat back the Nazi regime, and many never made it home. We can never forget the tremendous sacrifice performed by our fighting men and women; their bravery has provided me inspiration throughout my life.”

The bipartisan American delegation traveling to Normandy includes member from the House and Senate, and President Obama. Along with ceremonies at D-Day battlefields and cemeteries, Wenstrup will meet with the President of France and other French diplomats.
