Wenstrup Honored with U.S. Chamber ‘Spirit of Enterprise’ Award For Pro-Jobs, Pro-Growth Record

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s annual ‘Spirit of Enterprise’ Award in recognition of his support of pro-growth, pro-jobs policies during the second session of the 114th Congress.

“The best solution to poverty is a job. Having a job gives us purpose, opportunities, and a reason to wake up in the morning and feel like we add value to our communities and our country,” said. Rep. Wenstrup. “That’s why I am committed to empowering local businesses in Ohio’s Second District -- they are the backbone of our economy and the main job providers for our neighbors. Washington needs to get out of the way to allow them to grow, thrive, create jobs, and move our communities forward.”

“Businesses of all shapes and sizes need sound, commonsense policy in place in order to get off the ground, grow, and succeed,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “The Spirit of Enterprise Award recognizes those members of Congress who have done what’s right for our friends, family, and neighbors running businesses across the country. We applaud Rep. Wenstrup for his commitment to free enterprise and economic growth.”

The Chamber’s Spirit of Enterprise Award is awarded annually to Members of Congress based on their votes on critical business legislation outlined in the Chamber publication, How They Voted. During the second session of the 114th Congress, these votes included disapproval of the Department of Labor fiduciary rule, support for American manufacturing, and strengthening career and technical education. Members whose records reflect a strong commitment to free enterprise and economic growth, and support the Chamber’s position on at least 70% of the key votes, are eligible to receive the award. Congressman Wenstrup has rating of 100% for the 114th Congress.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
