I'm here to serve you, and I want to hear your thoughts. Whether over the phone, via email on my website, or on my Facebook page, your thoughts are essential and I stand ready to listen.

As always, thank you for your continued partnership as we work to create a bright future for Ohio's Second District and get our country back on track.

During the 11th hour, the previous administration pushed through job killing regulations with little input from those who will bear the brunt of the red-tape. This week and last, the House of Representatives voted to repeal some of these rules using the Congressional Review Act, which allows Congress to overturn any rules finalized in the past 60 legislative days. Below are a few highlights:

Army Reserve

This week, the Chief of the Army Reserve LTG Charles Luckey stopped by my office. As an Army reservist myself, and a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am committed to serving the men and women in uniform who so bravely protect this country. It was an honor to sit down with LTG Luckey and hear his thoughts!
Night for the Fight
Incredibly inspired by the hundreds of students at Night for the Fight at the Cintas Center, fighting for a cause that's so close to so many of our hearts. My sister has been a cancer survivor for 23 years, and I am proud to be a part of the fight in Congress to invest in research, find cures, and support families.

Chicken Soup

Last Sunday, I had a great time at Wise Temple in Cincinnati judging the 13th Annual Chicken Soup Cookoff! The soup was delicious and the competition was fierce -- thanks to everyone who submitted a soup and who helped judge the event. What a great community tradition that I am lucky to be a part of!

Extremity War Injuries

It was an honor to speak at Extremity War Injuries XII: Homeland Defense as a Translation of War Lessons Learned, a forum focusing on the preparedness of our troops and military medical professionals.

Having served as a combat surgeon in Iraq myself, making sure our uniformed medical professionals are adequately prepared for the trauma they will treat in combat environments when they are deployed is a priority of mine in Congress. Learn more about what I've done to promote this in Congress here.

State of the World

Last week, the House Armed Services Committee held a briefing entitled, "The State of the World: National Security Threats and Challenges."

Retired Army General David H. Petraeus and former Deputy Director of the CIA John McLaughlin testified on the growing security challenges facing the United States in an environment of increasing global risk. What do you think poses the most risk of our national security? Let me know here

This week, the Committee looked at the state of the U.S. military, which you can learn more about here.
