Standing for Life

Friend –

Today, hundreds of thousands of Americans marched the streets of Washington, D.C. -- taking a stand for life. Hundreds of thousands of voices echoed across the National Mall – speaking out for those whose voices are silenced.

Here in the Rayburn House Office Building where I work, over 700 citizens from the 1st and 2nd Districts of Ohio gathered – celebrating the sacred gift of life.

It is a powerful reminder that human life is worth standing up for and it’s worth speaking out for. I’m pleased that, even just in the first month of the new Congress and new Administration, we’re already seeing some incredible life-saving progress be made. Here are a few highlights:

  • Just this week, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017, with my support. This bill permanently bans taxpayer funding of abortion.
  • I joined 147 Members of the House of Representatives in sending a letter to President Trump and Vice-President Pence, outlining our pro-life initiatives to protect the rights of unborn children and their mothers. This includes nominating pro-life justices to the U.S. Supreme Court and enacting the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
  • On his first full day in office, President Trump renewed Reagan’s Mexico City Policy, which bans taxpayer dollars from funding abortions abroad

As a physician and a public servant, I’m proud to be a part of this fight. If you weren’t able to make it to D.C., here are a few of my favorite moments from today. Check out the rest of the photos on Facebook!
