Wenstrup Recognized by American Conservative Union For Excellent Conservative Record

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) was awarded the 2016 American Conservative Union (ACU) Award for Conservative Achievement in recognition of his strong voting record and commitment to championing conservative values during the 114th Congress. The ACU bestows this award upon Members of Congress who have shown unwavering dedication to America's core founding principles and a consistent record of protecting and upholding the Constitution.

“One of the reasons I decided to leave my practice as a doctor and come serve in Congress was to champion the conservative principles our country was founded on – like limited government, personal responsibility, and individual freedom,” said Congressman Wenstrup. “These ideals are part of the DNA of our nation and must continue to serve as guideposts as we chart our path forward. It’s an honor to be recognized by the American Conservative Union and I look forward to continuing to work to advance conservative priorities in the House of Representatives throughout the 115th Congress.”

“The 2016 ACU Award for Conservative Achievement goes to those Members of Congress who receive an 80% or above score in our annual ACU Ratings,” said American Conservative Union Chairman Matt Schlapp. “We applaud Congressman Wenstrup for his commitment to continuing to work toward conservative solutions for Ohioans.”

For over 46 years, the American Conservative Union has rated Members of Congress by examining their voting records on key issues, from wasteful government spending to national defense to free market enterprise. ACU ranks 8,000 elected federal and state officials every year, and uses the information as an educational tool to inform the public about where their representatives stand on the issues important to them. Congressman Wenstrup has a lifetime rating of 90%.

The ACU is one of the nation’s largest and most well-respected conservative organizations. It was founded in 1964 with the goal of promoting liberty and upholding the Constitution. For more information, visit http://conservative.org/.
