WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ohio has been awarded a grant under the STOP School Violence Act. Earlier this year, Congressman Wenstrup sent a letter to the Department of Justice in support of Ohio’s candidacy for the grant. Congressman Wenstrup released the following statement:

“This grant will help schools develop the means to identify and counter violence before it has the chance to develop. Funds will be used for new technology to improve security in schools as well as violence prevention training for law enforcement, school administrators, and students,” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup. 

“We are proud to work with Ohio’s Department of Education to help keep Ohio’s students safe and prevent violence before it happens. The funding available under the STOP School Violence Act will build on our work in the state to train every school in our Safety Assessment and Intervention program that has proven to save lives. We are also thankful for the entire Ohio delegation’s strong support of this application,” said Mark Barden, the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Sandy Hook Promise and father of Daniel who was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy.
