WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) presented Jelena Vogt of Loveland, Ohio, with the Bronze Congressional Award Medal for voluntary public service, personal development, and physical fitness. Vogt is a senior at Milford High School. To fulfill the personal development aspect of her award, Vogt played the organ at her church’s weekly services. To fulfill the public service requirement, she traveled to Peru to build a health clinic and led an expedition to Kentucky. Vogt developed an exercise routine to fulfill the physical fitness requirement. After presenting Vogt with the Congressional Award, Congressman Brad Wenstrup released the following statement: “I am proud to present Jelena with the Congressional Bronze Award Medal for her dedication to service and personal development—both physically and spiritually. When I spoke with Jelena, she told me throughout her efforts she prayed on her work and emphasized the significance of her faith-based experiences and the role her faith played in her success. In earning this award, Jelena has shown determination to achieve her goals and has distinguished herself as an example to others,” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup. Background on the Congressional Award: The Congressional Award is a non-partisan, voluntary, award program open to all 14-23 year olds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and/or Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition/exploration. More information about the Congressional Award can be found here.
