Wenstrup Statement on White House Letter

Washington, October 9, 2019 | Ann Tumolo (202-225-3164)
Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) released the following statement on the White House letter to House Democrats on their improper process to begin impeachment.

“This letter speaks to the concerns of many Americans as they witness House Democrats hurl themselves headlong into an erratic impeachment inquiry, ignoring both historical precedent and due process protections. The refusal to even vote on an impeachment inquiry exposes the faulty foundations on which Democrats find themselves. Democrats’ failure to follow process sidesteps democracy in partisan fashion with one-sided subpoenas, and no vote to ensure the voices of people are heard through their representatives.

“Additionally, important questions are raised about the conduct of House committees and chairmen in recent weeks and months as they chase impeachment proceedings. As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I have witnessed firsthand the selectively applied standards, misrepresentations in public hearings, and targeted leaks, which all derail good faith proceedings. These concerns must be addressed,” said Congressman Wenstrup.
