Wenstrup Congratulates New Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on Confirmation

Washington, October 26, 2020 | Chris Krepich (202-225-3164)

Cincinnati, OH—Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) offered the following statement after the United States Senate confirmed Judge Amy Coney Barrett to serve as Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court:

“Congratulations to Justice Amy Coney Barrett on her confirmation to the United States Supreme Court. Justice Barrett displayed her exceptional understanding and knowledge of legal theory and history before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Also of note, this is the first time a mother of school-aged children will serve on the nation’s highest court – a historic moment for women. I wish Justice Barrett and her family well and thank them for their patience and grace while enduring undignified attacks and the politics of personal destruction during her confirmation process. The American people should take comfort in knowing that our judicial branch will be served by another justice committed to interpreting the laws as they are written, not as he or she wished the laws were written. I commend President Trump for nominating yet another extremely-qualified and impressive jurist as well as Senator Portman for voting to confirm Justice Barrett.”
