Hiring Veterans:
Field Hearing & Job Fair
This Friday, we were able to bring some of our work on Capitol Hill to Ohio's 2nd District, hosting a Congressional Field Hearing, Best Practices in Veterans Hiring. Regular hearings like this are part of my job responsibilities as the subcommittee chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Economic Opportunity Subcommittee.
I was honored to host my fellow colleagues to hear from leading employers in Ohio and the nation. Representatives from Total Quality Logistics, Cintas, HELP Heating and Air Conditioning, Tristate Veterans Community Alliance, Recruit Military, GE Aviation, and the Cincinnati Police Department shared their insights into successfully hiring and retaining veterans for long-term careers.
Following the hearing, we brought together nearly 50 employers and many local veterans in a Job Fair, putting words into action to get more veterans working. A big thank you to all who attended!
Be sure to check out the last photo - recognizing a local WWII veteran.
