A Look Back at 2016 in Pictures

Friend -

As we head into 2017, I want to take a quick moment to thank you for making this past year meaningful. It is a privilege to serve and represent Ohio's Second District; thank you for all of your feedback and involvement throughout the past year. Here is a look back at a few of my favorite moments of 2016.

January: Attended the State of the Union address with Captain Katherine Conrad, a Cincinnati resident and combat pilot with the Air National Guard who had just returned from a Middle East deployment.

February: Hosted a Veterans Job Fair in Anderson Township. Nearly 50 regional employers participated, supporting our veteran community. Deeply grateful for these men and women's service.

March: Honored to join in the grand opening of the Parkway Apartments, a new complex that will provide affordable housing for many of our local veterans.

April: Debated the National Defense Authorization Act for 13 hours as a member of the House Armed Services Committee. The NDAA was signed into law just two weeks ago, giving troops the biggest pay raise they have had in six years.

May: Adams County Sheriff Kimmy Rogers organized a "Dangers of Opiates" essay contest. I was inspired by the Peebles, West Union, and Manchester high school students who were engaged and stood up to combat the epidemic through their meaningful statements.

June: The House of Representatives introduced our Better Way plan to get America back on track. You can learn more at better.gop.

July: Spent the day with the students of the Lockland Presbyterian Church Summer Program, a program that offers classes and activities for kids of all ages in the surrounding area during summer break.

August: Met with leaders in Highland County to discuss the issues facing Ohio's farming community. Grateful for our local farmers' commitment to hard work, community, and love for our countryside.

September: My wife Monica and Brad, Jr. joined me for the unveiling of Ohio's new statue of Thomas Edison in the U.S. Capitol. Schedule a tour with our office to come check it out!

October: Joined tri-state veterans at CVG before their honor flight took off for Washington, D.C. These men and women are American heroes.

November: Participated in the Norwood Police Department's Donuts with Cops event. Our policemen and women are essential members of our community and we are deeply grateful that they put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

December: Wished those serving overseas during the holidays a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Not only do their sacrifices make this country great, they keep this country free.

In your service,
