Washington, April 26, 2017
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, a bipartisan, bicameral group of members from the Ohio Congressional Delegation gathered on the House Floor to honor Congressman Steve Stivers (OH-15) for his promotion to Brigadier General in the Ohio National Guard. Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) was also recognized for his recent promotion to Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Speaking on the House Floor were Representatives Pat Tiberi (OH-12), Bob Latta (OH-05), Bill Johnson (OH-06), Joyce Beatty (OH-03), and Brad Wenstrup (OH-02). A video recording of the one-minute speeches is available here, or below.
Joining the Ohio House Members on the Floor to recognize Brigadier General Stivers and Colonel Wenstrup were Ohio Senators Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Rob Portman (R-OH):
“Whether in the Ohio National Guard or the Army Reserve, Steve and Brad are carrying on a proud tradition of Ohioans serving our nation in uniform, and they are both so deserving of these promotions,” said Senator Brown. “We thank them and their entire families -- Steve's wife Karen and children Sarah and Sam, and Brad's wife Monica and son Brad Jr. -- for their sacrifice for our country.”
“Steve Stivers and Brad Wenstrup have served their country with dedication -- and with half a century of military service between them,” Senator Portman said. “They’re serving our neighbors in Ohio by representing us in the House of Representatives and taking our voice to the policy debates in Washington. I want to congratulate both of them on these well-deserved promotions, and on behalf of all Ohioans I want to thank them and all of our other soldiers for their service to our country.”
