WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s reevaluation of the Iran nuclear deal:
“From the beginning, I opposed the Iran nuclear deal because its structural flaws fail to effectively dismantle the hostile regime’s current nuclear infrastructure or fully prohibit nuclear weapons research, enrichment research, miniaturization, or delivery work. Enforcing this agreement with a state sponsor of terror -- simply because it is the status quo -- does not benefit our national security. I stand behind President Trump’s decision to reevaluate the deal and, as a member of both the House Intelligence and Armed Services Committees, I will continue to work in partnership with the administration to deter, deflect, and defend against Iran’s threats to our national security and to our allies.”
Congressman Brad Wenstrup has served in the U.S. Army Reserve since 1998, currently holding the rank of Colonel. In 2005-06, he served a tour in Iraq as a combat surgeon, and was awarded a Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge for his service.
During his time in Congress, Brad is fulfilling his Reserve duties by treating patients at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda. He also currently serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the Armed Services Committee, and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
