Passed by the Senate earlier this week, this government funding legislation is expected to be signed by President Trump well before the beginning of the next fiscal year on October 1. Upon passage, Congressman Wenstrup released the following statement: “As Senator Portman and I told Secretary Perry when he visited Piketon last fall, we need stable funding for the long-term success of the Piketon project and the Portsmouth community. The funds allocated today will bolster cleanup efforts and work to end the unpredictable reliance on uranium bartering as we work to prepare the site for redevelopment. “This legislation is finally a return to how Congress should work, passing government funding bills before the Fiscal Year starts on October 1. The House has repeatedly completed our work in years past, and I am thankful to see the Senate catch up. Among many important priorities, this bill funds the critical VA MISSION Act, passed earlier this year to ensure our veterans get the health care they deserve,” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup.
