Wenstrup Supports Broadcast Radio Stations Against Performance Fees

Washington, February 26, 2019 | Ann Tumolo (202-225-3164)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As a new session of Congress gets underway, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) announced he is again cosponsoring the Local Radio Freedom Act (H.Con.Res. 20), asserting that “Congress should not impose any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge” on local broadcast radio stations.

Wenstrup joins over 100 Representatives as original cosponsors, and shared the following comments after the legislation was introduced:

“I grew up listening to some of Cincinnati’s greatest radio stations. Any performance fee on our local radio stations would threaten these small businesses and their employees. Millions of Americans rely on broadcast stations for news and entertainment, and new broadcast costs could financially cripple the radio industry, threatening local jobs and stations.” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup.
