Wenstrup Supports Ending Illegal Robocalls

Washington, July 24, 2019 | Ann Tumolo (202-225-3164)

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) supported the bipartisan Stopping Bad Robocalls Act, which reinforces the FCC’s authority to detect, shut down, and fine offenders who send illegal robocalls. The bill also requires phone companies to authenticate phone calls and give consumers the ability to block robocalls at no additional cost.

“Illegal robocalls are invasive, disruptive, and detract from critical communications like doctor’s appointment reminders and emergency calls. The Stopping Bad Robocalls Act doubles down on the FCC’s authority to shut down illegal robocalls and gives consumers the tools to block bad robocalls so Americans can be protected from spam and fraud,” said Wenstrup.
