WASHINGTON, D.C. –Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) and the Committee on Ways and Means released a Request for Information (RFI) soliciting input that will inform the Rural and Underserved Communities Health Task Force in seeking bipartisan solution to pressing issues facing patients.

Congressman Wenstrup, a Task Force Co-Chair, released the following statement upon the announcement of the RFI:

“I’m proud to advocate for the health care needs of rural and underserved communities as co-chair the Rural and Underserved Health Task force. I want to hear from stakeholders in Ohio’s rural and underserved areas about how we can improve health care access and outcomes. I’m particularly interested in ending the crisis of rural hospital closures, expanding our health care work force, encouraging new technologies to increase digital and telehealth, and examining social determinants of health,” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup, DPM.

The top Republican on the Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA), released the following statement:

“Severe inequity exists in our nation when it comes to the accessibility and affordability of health care,” said Brady and Neal. “Earlier this year, we formed a bipartisan task force to examine the delivery and financing of health services in urban and rural underserved areas. Now, we urge stakeholders from across the country to provide their input on priority topics that affect health status and outcomes for the Task Force to consider and discuss. The submissions we receive will support our members’ work identifying the causes of health care disparities and developing strategies to close gaps in care that exist between certain communities.”

The bipartisan Rural and Underserved Communities Health Task Force was created to discuss the challenges of delivering health care in rural and underserved areas and explore holistic bipartisan policy options that could improve outcomes and care in these communities.

The full Request for Information can be viewed HERE. Interested parties can submit responses by the close of business Friday, November 29, 2019.

Reps. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), Jodey Arrington (R-TX), Danny Davis (D-IL), and Terri Sewell (D-AL) serve as co-chairs of the Rural and Underserved Communities Health Task Force.
