Friend --

In April, Congressman Raul Ruiz (D-CA) and I introduced the Restoring the Patient's Voice Act, a bipartisan bill that focuses on ensuring individualized care for all patients instead of a one-size-fits-all health care policy.

You can read more about step therapy and how this bill represents an important step toward restoring the doctor-patient relationship, here

Siemens
On Wednesday, I spent the afternoon meeting with the hardworking men and women at Siemens, a global energy and power company with a manufacturing plant right here in Norwood. Siemens has a major initiative to hire veterans-a program that allows our heroes to find work and meaning in their lives when they return home from service. We also discussed the importance of education programs geared toward filling the high-skilled trade jobs that Siemens offers our community.
Battling the Opioid Epidemic

In Brown County, I sat down with law enforcement officers who see first-hand what the opioid epidemic is doing to our community. I look forward to bringing their thoughts and insights back to Washington as we continue to work together to find a long-term solution to prevent this crisis from spreading further across our nation.

The opioid crisis is devastating communities across the country. I testified in front of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to share the stories and statistics of Ohio's Second District as we battle this epidemic. Watch here

St. Joseph's

St. Joseph's Home in Sharonville is an Intermediate Care Facility for individuals with developmental disabilities. The patients I met at St. Joseph's are strong and inspiring -- and I was honored to meet them and to hear their stories. Thank you St. Joesph's for showing me your facility and the care that you provide.

Collaboration Forum
Along with Congressman Bill Johnson, I held a collaboration forum with other state and local representatives from Southern Ohio this week at Shawnee State University.

As we all continue to promote economic growth, fight the opioid epidemic, and bring jobs to our communities, it is essential that we work together to address all of the issues at hand.

Ohio Defense Forum
Amidst increasing demands on the defense budget and a highly uncertain global security environment, it is critical we are not wasting hard-earned taxpayer dollars on excess infrastructure that the DOD has determinded is unnecessary. Ultimately, it's about properly aligning our military infrastructure with our strategic mission.

It was an honor to participate in the Ohio Defense Forum, and it is my hope that attendees came away with a clearer vision of what military value is, why it is critical, and how they can position their community and installations to be of value when it comes to mission movements, realignments, and changes.
