COLUMBUS, O.H. – Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-2) participated in the 2017 Ohio Defense Forum at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Congressman Wenstrup, a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and member of the House Armed Services Committee and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, served as moderator for the panel on “Understanding and Increasing Military Value.”
Panelists included George Schlossberg, Partner at Kutak Rock, Retired Major General Lou Ferraro, President of Ferraro, Inc.; Retired Major General Paul Sullivan; and Matt Borron, COO of the Association of Defense Communities.
“Amidst increasing demands on the defense budget and a highly uncertain global security environment, it is critical we are not wasting hard-earned taxpayer dollars on excess infrastructure that the DOD has determined is unnecessary,” said Wenstrup. “Ultimately, it’s about properly aligning our military infrastructure with our strategic mission. It was an honor to participate in the Ohio Defense Forum today, and it is my hope that attendees came away with a clearer vision of what military value is, why it is critical, and how they can position their community and installations to be of value when it comes to mission movements, realignments, and changes."
Congressman Wenstrup also sat down with members of the press, along with Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10), following the panel.
Other elected officials moderating at the Ohio Defense Forum included Representative Warren Davidson (OH-08), Representative Bill Johnson (OH-06), Representative Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), and Ohio Representative Cliff Rosenberger (Speaker, Ohio House of Representatives).
