Members of Congress have the privilege of nominating exceptional young people for admission to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy and the Merchant Marine Academy, known collectively as the U.S. Service Academies. We also work with students interested in the Coast Guard Academy.

The U.S. Service Academies offer opportunities for motivated young men and women to serve their country while receiving an excellent education and developing valuable leadership skills. In place of tuition, the Academies require military service after graduation.

On April 13th, I am hosting an Academy Day to bring together representatives of each of the Service Academies and interested students and parents. During this day, we’ll discuss the application process, academy life, and career opportunities within the various branches of the military.
Although the program is designed for students in their junior year of high school, I encourage younger high school students to attend as well if they would like to learn more about the Academies and how they can better prepare themselves to apply. Nominees are chosen based on a number of factors including evidence of character, leadership, academic excellence, physical aptitude and extracurricular activities.

If you know a high school student who meets these criteria and may be interested in attending a Service Academy, please let them know about this opportunity.
