Congressman Brad Wenstrup, member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, September 17th, the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, chaired by Congressman Dan Benishek, M.D. (MI-01), will conduct an oversight field hearing in Hamilton County, Ohio. The hearing, entitled “Making a Difference: Shattering Barriers to Effective Mental Health Care for Veterans,” will allow panels made up of constituents of Ohio’s second district, veterans, and VA staff to testify before Members of Congress about their experiences with the VA’s mental health care services and how effectively these programs are meeting the needs of local veterans. Field hearings are an opportunity for local residents to take part in Congressional hearings outside of Washington, D.C. This Subcommittee on Health hearing will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the theater room of the Anderson Center located at 7850 Five Mile Road, Anderson Township, Ohio, 45230. It is open to the public and the press. More information can be found at /Sept17. “Southern Ohio has a robust community of veterans and service members. It is vital that we assess the mental health resources made available to them to ensure we are providing adequate care to those who have made sacrifices for our country. I truly appreciate the participation of Chairman Dan Benishek and the witnesses who will share their experiences with mental health care services,” Wenstrup said. Prior to the hearing, Congressman Wenstrup will hold a Veterans’ Meet and Greet with Chairman Benishek to thank local veterans and service members and discuss with Chairman Benishek issues important to the local veterans community. Local veterans and service members are invited to join Congressman Wenstrup and Chairman Benishek at 9am for this meeting. RSVPs are suggested and can be submitted at /Sept17 or by phone at 513-474-7777. ### |
