Wenstrup at Leadership Press Conference: Training, Equipping Troops is Top Priority

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup, Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee, joined House Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rogers, House Armed Service Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry, and other colleagues to speak in support of the annual defense policy bill, the Fiscal Year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

The NDAA passed the House of Representatives today by a bipartisan vote of 344-81.

Watch the full press conference, here. Congressman Wenstrup’s prepared remarks are below:

“The greatest fighting force in defense of freedom, our military, has been weakened and diminished over the last several decades.

This has left our troops, and all of us, vulnerable while our adversaries have become more brazen and more emboldened.

The Fiscal Year 2018 defense policy bill respects our troops and their mission – to provide for the defense of the United States.

I served one year as a combat surgeon in Iraq. Having what you need and being trained to serve at top levels is so important to success from all aspects – medical, transportation, technical, and lethal.

This thoughtful, bipartisan bill addresses these issues and begins to restore and strengthen all branches of the military that so selflessly serves us – the United States of America.”
