3 priorities

Friend,

Today, the Republican Study Committee (a conservative congressional caucus that I'm a member of) held a press conference on 3 of our top priorities heading into the fall: repealing Obamacare, reforming the tax code, and securing the border. Repeal. Reform. Secure. We're calling on all Republicans to keep their promises to the American people. If you missed it, read RSC Chairman Walker's CNN opinion piece here

Repealing Obamacare

Right now, the status quo is leaving too many Ohioans and other Americans without access to quality care and without options. As insurers continue to pull out of the Affordable Care Act exchanges, the crisis compounds. The House passed a bill to provide relief from Obamacare and jumpstart a patient-centered system. The Senate needs to get to work on keeping their promise to the American people to repeal and replace Obamacare. Inaction is not an option.

Reforming the Tax Code

The goal is simple: we need to reintroduce sanity and common sense back into our tax code. Cutting through the layers of bureaucracy will be complex, but it's something that we have to tackle -- so that we can simplify the code, allow American taxpayers to keep more of the money they earned, bring down rates, and allow American employers to compete by leveling the playing field.  Learn more here

Securing the Border

Our nation’s number one priority is the security of its citizens. That includes securing our border, ensuring there are consequences for convicted criminals who are in our country illegally, and working to prevent more illegal drugs from crossing the border. But we must also welcome those who want to enter this great nation legally, and work to make that process more effective and efficient. Let’s continue to uphold our national identity as a country that welcomes “your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…” but let’s do it legally.
