Wenstrup Votes to Avoid Government Shutdown, Fund Border Wall

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) voted for H.J. Res. 31, which provides $22.54 billion for border barriers, border technology, border personnel, and ICE detention beds. After voting for the legislation, Congressman Brad Wenstrup released the following statement:

“While I strongly preferred the funding legislation we passed in the House in December, today’s negotiated package, fortunately, includes $22.54 billion in funding for border security to address the numerous challenges we face on the southern border, including funds for new wall sections in the highest priority areas determined by Customs and Border Protection and funds for surveillance technology at Ports of Entry to stop the illicit flow of drugs into our country. It also provides strong funding for the TSA, ICE, and our Coast Guard. I looking forward to finding ways to take further actions to provide enhanced security and certainty for all Americans,” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup.
