Wenstrup gave GOP radio address

The Columbus Dispatch, November 17, 2014

Rep. Brad Wenstrup gave the Republican radio address this weekend.

Wenstrup, a Cincinnati Republican just elected to his second term in Congress, used the address to focus on economic issues, emphasizing the House’s vote on the Keystone XL pipeline, the Hire More Heroes Act, which encourages businesses to hire veterans, and President Barack Obama’s 2010 health care law, which Republicans universally loathe. The speech rehashed many issues that House Speaker John Boehner, R-West Chester, has emphasized as Congress gets back to work after the election.

But Wenstrup also used his brief address to criticize Obama for his stand on net neutrality, for his deal with the Chinese government on global warming, and other Obama environmental policies and for Obama’s vow to enact new immigration policies through executive action. And he took a rhetorical swing at the Obamacare advisor who expressed pride in the lack of transparency that went into passage of the health care law, saying the law was structured to avoid criticism.

“This is the same arrogance we’ve seen time and time again from this administration and its allies,” Wenstrup said. “This is insulting to all of us.”

“Americans deserve far better,” Wenstrup concluded. “You deserve a government that doesn’t just ‘hear you,’ but actually listens to you and puts your priorities first – that focuses on securing more jobs and a better future for our children.
