On Tuesday morning, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) met with local representatives of five national Jewish organizations, including Agudath Israel of America, for a roundtable discussion. The meeting focused on the Iran nuclear agreement, and one-by-one, representatives from each group explained why they could not support the deal and how they came to that decision. Following the robust discussion, Congressman Wenstrup held a press conference with the Jewish groups. “This deal puts Iran on a path towards nuclear breakout, and threatens the national security of America, our allies, and the stability of the region,” Congressman Wenstrup warned. “There are better alternatives to the current deal that ensure we prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and reduce, rather than enhance, Iran’s terrorist and ballistic capabilities.” Agudath Israel of America’s national director of state relations, Rabbi A. D. Motzen explained his organization’s opposition to the deal and thanked Congressman Wenstrup for his consistent stance on the issue. “While the focus of the national media is on the handful of Democratic senators still undecided on the issue, here in our community we appreciate the strong stanceof Congressman Wenstrup and his Republican colleagues and we don’t take it for granted.” |
