WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed the 58th National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2019. Upon passage of the legislation, Congressman Wenstrup released the following statement: “Our military is facing a readiness crisis. Fatal military accidents have now overtaken combat casualties. Aviation accidents alone have reached a six year high. As I have said before, we cannot continue to expect our military to do more with less. It is our primary responsibility to ensure our servicemembers have the resources necessary complete their mission safely and effectively. “Today’s passage of the NDAA is an important step toward rebuilding our military. It provides necessary funding increases for training, equipment rehabilitation and replacement, and missile defense and nuclear deterrents. It also takes steps to strengthen our relationships with our allies, and to better understand and thwart the influence and aggression of Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to quickly pass this legislation,” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup. |
