Rep. Wenstrup Votes to Support Veterans Exposed to Burn Pits
Washington,
July 15, 2022
WASHINGTON - Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) released the following statement after he voted in support of the bipartisan Sergeant First Class (SFC) Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act. The Senate passed this amended version of H.R. 3967, a much-improved bill that addressed concerns of the previous House version. The PACT Act is comprehensive legislation that ensures veterans exposed to toxins from burn pits during their service to our country receive the health care and disability benefits they deserve from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). "These brave men and women put their lives in harm’s way, willing to lay down their lives for our freedom. When I was in Iraq, I smelled that smoke. No veteran should ever have had to suffer health repercussions from burn pit exposure. These heroes deserve health care and help – not hurdles and red tape," by Rep. Brad Wenstrup. "Our government should meet them with compassion and care. That’s why I voted in support of the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act. This bill ensures that our veterans will receive the care they deserve, and at the same time there are strong oversight and accountability safeguards in place so that the VA delivers. This is what can happen when Congress works together to help our veterans and strengthen our nation." ### |
