Congressman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) released the following comment on the Piketon Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) funding levels included in the 2015 fiscal year Omnibus legislation:

“Continued bipartisan work in Congress is keeping the Piketon D&D cleanup on track without major disruption. I’ve carried my conversations with local officials, union leaders, and community stakeholders over recent months directly to Congressional leadership to secure this funding.

“Unfortunately, our budget realities are falling on deaf ears at the Department of Energy, and that impacts families in southern Ohio. The Obama administration continues to be missing in action in attempts to fulfill its promise to Ohioans and fully fund the cleanup project within their annual budget requests. I again call on them to actively engage with the community and Members of Congress to avoid future funding cliffs.

“This site has incredible potential for future redevelopment, and I will continue to lead efforts for a fully funded and timely cleanup process.”
