Wenstrup: Let’s Continue to Build upon Success of Operation Warp Speed

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup, D.P.M., (OH-02) issued the following statement regarding the Biden administration’s announcement on the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines:

“It’s truly incredible that the world’s greatest doctors, scientists, and researchers have brought us multiple COVID-19 vaccines and begun distribution in less than a year through Operation Warp Speed. The Trump administration set a goal to have one hundred million Americans vaccinated by the spring, and I’m pleased to see the Biden administration take up that mantel and continue striving toward that laudable goal. Working with governors across the nation to set up logistics plans, the Trump administration was able to deliver more than 35,000,000 doses to date. While there have been and are still many challenges to vaccinating Americans quickly, we have reason to be hopeful about the progress we’ve made.

“I’m also glad to see the new administration will launch a public education campaign, which was authorized and funded by Congress in the end-of-the-year COVID relief bill. I was proud to sponsor bipartisan legislation similar to the underlying language in that bill.”

Congressman Wenstrup serves as a co-chairman of the GOP Doctors Caucus. He holds a degree in Podiatric Medicine from Rosalind Franklin University and has served in private practice for over 27 years. He has also served on the Cincinnati Board of Health and was the Podiatric Surgical Residency Director at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Dr. Wenstrup has served in the U.S. Army Reserve since 1998, currently holding the rank of Colonel. From 2005 to 2006, he deployed to Iraq, where he served as the Chief of Surgery with the 344th Combat Support Hospital. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Action Badge for his service. In 2018, he was awarded the Soldier’s Medal.

He currently fulfills his Army Reserve duty by caring for our troops at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and by serving as Medical Policy Adviser for the Chief of the Army Reserve at Ft. Belvoir.
