“I am relieved that Democrats have recognized the costs of this reckless shutdown, from the members of our military who have been furloughed, to the 9 million children who rely on CHIP for health care.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) released the following statement after the passage of a Continuing Resolution to end the government shutdown:

“There was no reason for the government to shut down. There is nothing in the House passed funding bill that Democrats oppose, yet they chose to hold government funding hostage in an unrelated immigration negotiation, for which they developed an artificial deadline,” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup.

“I am relieved that Democrats have recognized the costs of this reckless shutdown, from the members of our military who have been furloughed, to the 9 million children who rely on CHIP for health care.”
