WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) released the following statement after the House passed the Farm Bill, which works to address the 5 year, 52 percent decline in the farm economy and makes over 35 improvements to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP): “Every time I meet with farmers and ranchers from Ohio’s Second District, they tell me they need more certainty in their industry. This legislation meets the needs of our food supply by reauthorizing and strengthening crop insurance and other programs that support our nation’s farmers for the next five years,” said Congressman Brad Wenstrup. “In addition to provisions to help America’s farmers, this legislation makes improvements to America’s nutrition assistance program. We never want any American to say they were not given a chance to succeed. This bill provides the opportunity, for those that are able, to take advantage of educational and employment opportunities to get back on their feet and break through poverty.” |
