Wenstrup Requests Information on Total U.S. Taxpayer Funding of The World Health Organization

  • BRW x WHO Presser

Yesterday, Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Rep. Brad Wenstrup, D.P.M., sent a letter to the United States Government Accountability Office requesting information about U.S. government funding of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The letter is seeking answers on the total amount of funding, in both assessed dues and additional voluntary contributions, that the Federal Government sent to the WHO and what, if any, processes are in place to ensure these contributions are not being used in a manner that runs contrary to U.S. interests.

Read the full letter here.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the WHO, an organization largely funded by American taxpayers, ceded to propaganda from the Chinese Communist Party rather than conducting truly independent inquiries into the origins of COVID-19,” said Chairman Wenstrup, D.P.M. “The American people deserve to know if their tax dollars are being used to undermine American interests. By requiring the Government Accountability Office to provide a full picture of U.S. funding to the WHO and by identifying what these funds were used for, we can get the American public the answers they deserve.”

Background:

·     Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the WHO bent its knee to the Chinese Communist Party to peddle CCP propaganda on the Origins of COVID-19.

·     In Fiscal Year 2022, the United States accounted for approximately 22 percent or, $122 million, of the WHO's budget, more than any other member.

·     From FY 2012 to FY 2018, U.S. voluntary contributions to the WHO averaged nearly double the FY 2022 amount, reaching $254 million, despite having little to no information on what the WHO uses our taxpayer dollars for.
